Virgin Voyages is an adults-only cruise line backed by Virgin Group and Bain Capital. Headquartered in Plantation, Florida, the company combines Virgin's contemporary brand style with mid-sized ships designed exclusively for guests aged 18 and over.
The cruise line was established in 2014 and introduced its first ship, Scarlet Lady, in 2021 after its original launch plans were disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Virgin Voyages has since expanded to a four-ship fleet.
Virgin Voyages fleet
As of August 2026, all four of Virgin Voyages' sister ships are in service:
- Scarlet Lady – entered service in 2021
- Valiant Lady – entered service in 2022
- Resilient Lady – entered service in 2023
- Brilliant Lady – entered service in 2025
The ships share a common design platform but operate changing regional programmes. Virgin Voyages offers itineraries in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and wider Europe, alongside North American, Canadian, New England, Alaskan and transatlantic sailings. Deployment varies by season.
Adults-only experience
Virgin Voyages accepts guests aged 18 and over and uses the term “Sailors” for its passengers. Its ships do not follow the traditional main-dining-room and buffet model. Instead, guests can choose from more than 20 eateries, with standard dining included in the cruise fare and no assigned dining times.
The standard fare also includes essential non-alcoholic drinks, Wi-Fi, group fitness classes and onboard entertainment. Alcohol, shore excursions, spa treatments and certain premium services are charged separately. The onboard product places a strong emphasis on restaurants, nightlife, live performance, wellness and informal service.
Ownership and leadership
Virgin Voyages is backed by Virgin Group and private investment firm Bain Capital. The cruise line is led by chief executive officer Nirmal Saverimuttu, a founding member of the leadership team who joined the business in 2014 and became CEO in 2023.
