Valiant Lady is due to make Virgin Voyages’ first call at Hamburg on 24 August 2026, introducing the adults-only cruise brand to one of Northern Europe’s leading cruise ports.
The Port of Hamburg’s official vessel schedule lists the 277-metre ship for arrival at Cruise Center Altona at 18:00 local time. Valiant Lady is scheduled to remain alongside overnight before departing at 17:00 on 25 August.
The visit is both a maiden call for the ship and the first scheduled Hamburg call by a Virgin Voyages vessel.
Overnight call during Comedy Fest voyage
The Hamburg visit forms part of Virgin Voyages’ seven-night Comedy Fest sailing from Portsmouth, which departed on 20 August.
The itinerary includes calls at Zeebrugge for Bruges and Brussels, Amsterdam and Hamburg before Valiant Lady returns to Portsmouth on 27 August. The overnight stay gives guests an evening and much of the following day to explore the German city.
Hamburg’s waterfront attractions include the historic Speicherstadt warehouse district, the Elbphilharmonie concert hall and the harbour promenade, while the Altona terminal places the ship beside the River Elbe and within easy reach of the city centre.
A new cruise line for Hamburg
Hamburg Port Authority identified Virgin Voyages among the cruise operators making their first appearance in the city during 2026.
The port expects 331 ocean-cruise calls during the year, alongside 47 visits by river-cruise vessels. Its programme of maiden calls also includes ships operated by Explora Journeys, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Scenic and Royal Caribbean International.
Port officials have said that welcoming new cruise lines broadens Hamburg’s offering and strengthens the city’s position as a Northern European cruise destination.
About Valiant Lady
Built in 2021, Valiant Lady is one of Virgin Voyages’ Lady Ships and operates exclusively for adult guests.
Cruise Gate Hamburg lists the vessel at 277 metres long and 42 metres wide, with capacity for approximately 2,770 passengers. The ship has a gross tonnage of 108,192 and is registered in Nassau, according to the Port of Hamburg’s vessel information.
Onboard features include more than 20 dining venues, the multi-purpose Red Room entertainment space, the Aquatic Club pool area and The Manor nightclub. Virgin Voyages refers to its passengers as “Sailors” and includes dining, group fitness classes, Wi-Fi and gratuities within its standard cruise fare.
Hamburg will return to Virgin’s programme
The maiden call also provides a preview of Virgin Voyages’ longer-term plans for Northern Europe.
Virgin has already announced that Valiant Lady will operate the company’s first dedicated Scandinavia and Baltic season from Amsterdam in 2028. One of those seven-night itineraries will include Hamburg alongside Oslo and Copenhagen, with extended time in port.
Today’s visit therefore establishes a new relationship between Virgin Voyages and Hamburg ahead of the cruise line’s wider expansion into the region.
Schedule note: Port arrival and departure times can change at short notice because of weather, tides or operational requirements. This report will be updated if the published schedule changes.
