MSC World Asia has successfully completed its final sea trials in the Atlantic Ocean ahead of its scheduled delivery to MSC Cruises on 25 November 2026.
The tests took place off the west coast of France and represent one of the final major technical milestones before the new flagship enters service.
Propulsion and safety systems tested
During the trials, teams assessed the ship’s engines, manoeuvrability, fuel efficiency, safety systems, speed and stopping distances.
MSC World Asia completed its first round of sea trials in July. It will now return to Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire for the remaining completion work before its handover to MSC Cruises.
Delivery and naming dates confirmed
Following delivery on 25 November, the ship will be officially named in Le Havre, France, on 28 November 2026.
Its first passenger cruise is scheduled to depart Barcelona on 4 December, beginning a season of seven-night Mediterranean itineraries.
The regular route will include Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia for Rome, Messina, Naples and Valletta, with embarkation offered at multiple ports.
MSC’s third World-class ship
MSC World Asia will become the 24th ship in the MSC Cruises fleet and the third LNG-powered vessel in its World Class, following MSC World Europa and MSC World America.
The ship will accommodate up to 6,758 passengers and offer more than 40 restaurants, bars and lounges. Announced attractions include The Spiral @ Tree of Life, which MSC says will be the longest dry slide at sea.
The completion of the final trials and the ship’s delivery timetable were confirmed by MSC Cruises on 14 September 2026.
