A fire aboard Phoenix Reisen's Amadea prompted 320 passengers to be moved from one part of the ship to another while the cruise vessel was berthed at Rønne on the Danish island of Bornholm.
The fire started in a linen-storage compartment on Monday 14 September 2026. Bornholm Police received the alarm at approximately 7.21am local time and said the blaze had been extinguished by 7.31am.
Nobody was reported injured. Police said everyone was safe following the incident.
Passengers moved between decks
Initial police information and several subsequent reports described 320 passengers as having been evacuated from Amadea.
However, local Bornholm reporting clarified that the passengers were moved from one deck to another aboard the vessel rather than being taken ashore. Deck7 has therefore retained the authorities' description of an evacuation while making clear that it was an internal movement of passengers.
The precaution allowed the crew and emergency services to keep passengers away from the affected area while the fire was brought under control.
Fire extinguished within ten minutes
Police officers, Bornholm Fire Service and the Danish Emergency Management Agency attended the cruise quay in Rønne after the alarm was raised.
Emil Gørløv, an incident commander with Bornholm Fire Service, said the immediate danger had passed after the blaze was extinguished. He praised the ship's crew for moving passengers quickly and helping firefighters find their way around the vessel.
Personnel from Rønne Port also assisted the response by directing emergency vehicles along the access road towards the ship.
The rapid response meant the fire was extinguished approximately ten minutes after police received the initial notification. No further fire or additional emergency aboard the vessel was reported.
Police investigate cause of fire
Bornholm Police opened an investigation into how the fire began inside the linen-storage compartment. No cause had been announced when this article was prepared.
The authorities have not reported any injuries among the passengers, crew or emergency responders. The extent of any damage inside the compartment has also not been publicly detailed.
Amadea was berthed at the outer section of Rønne's cruise quay when the incident occurred. The ship had arrived following a call at Gdańsk and was scheduled to continue to Wismar before returning to Bremerhaven.
Available reports did not identify a cancellation or material change to the remainder of the voyage.

The investigation remains ongoing. Deck7 will update this report if Bornholm Police or Phoenix Reisen releases material new information about the cause, damage or operational consequences of the fire.
